This paper addresses the derivation of the boundary integral equations for a non-homogeneous elastic half-space subjected to constant surface tractions on an arbitrarily shaped area on the basis of the respective Green's functions. The type of non-homogeneity considered is a power law variation of Young's modulus with depth below the surface of the half-space. Two different methods, a contour integral and an integration-free approach are presented, applicable for arbitrarily and rectangular shaped boundary elements, respectively. In the first one the divergence theorem is used in order to reduce the integration of a two-dimensional surface element to an integration over the element's confining boundary only. In the second approach no integration at all is needed since the solution is found simply by evaluating functions to be determined at the boundaries of the loaded rectangle. 相似文献

Summary An exact, three-dimensional analysis is developed for a penny-shaped crack in an infinite transversely isotropic piezoelectric
medium. The crack is assumed to be parallel to the plane of isotropy, with its faces subjected to a couple of concentrated
normal forces and a couple of point electric charges that are antisymmetric with respect to the crack plane. The fundamental
solution of a concentrated force and a point charge acting on the surface of a piezoelectric half-space is employed to derive
the integral equations for the general boundary value problem. For the above antisymmetric crack problem, complete expressions
for the elastoelectric field are obtained. A numerical calculation is finally performed to show the piezoelectric effect in
piezoelectric materials. It is noted here that the present analysis is an extension of Fabrikant's theory for elasticity.

The contact problem for an arbitrary punch acting on a transversely isotropic elastic layer bonded to a rigid foundation is
solved by the generalized images method developed by the author earlier. The problem is reduced to that of an electrostatic
problem of infinite row of coaxial charged disks in the shape of the domain of contact. The solution can be obtained by the
method of iteration, collocations or any other standard procedure for solving integral equations. Exact inversion can be obtained
in the case of a circular domain of contact. The mean value theorem can be used for estimation of the resultant force and
tilting moment acting on a punch of arbitrary shape and circular domain of contact. A limiting case of general solution gives
the solution for an isotropic layer.

A complete list of Finsler, Scott and Boffa sets whose transitive closures contain 1, 2 and 3 elements is given. An algorithm for deciding the identity of hereditarily finite Scott sets is presented. Anti‐well‐founded (awf) sets, i. e., non‐well‐founded sets whose all maximal ∈‐paths are circular, are studied. For example they form transitive inner models of ZFC minus foundation and empty set, and they include uncountably many hereditarily finite awf sets. A complete list of Finsler and Boffa awf sets with 2 and 3 elements in their transitive closure is given. Next the existence of infinite descending ∈‐sequences in Aczel universes is shown. Finally a theorem of Ballard and Hrbá?ek concerning nonstandard Boffa universes of sets is considerably extended. 相似文献

Twin Paradox and the Logical Foundation of Relativity Theory 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
We study the foundation of space-time theory in the framework of first-order logic (FOL). Since the foundation of mathematics has been successfully carried through (via set theory) in FOL, it is not entirely impossible to do the same for space-time theory (or relativity). First we recall a simple and streamlined FOL-axiomatization Specrel of special relativity from the literature. Specrel is complete with respect to questions about inertial motion. Then we ask ourselves whether we can prove the usual relativistic properties of accelerated motion (e.g., clocks in acceleration) in Specrel. As it turns out, this is practically equivalent to asking whether Specrel is strong enough to “handle” (or treat) accelerated observers. We show that there is a mathematical principle called induction (IND) coming from real analysis which needs to be added to Specrel in order to handle situations involving relativistic acceleration. We present an extended version AccRel of Specrel which is strong enough to handle accelerated motion, in particular, accelerated observers. Among others, we show that~the Twin Paradox becomes provable in AccRel, but it is not provable without IND. 相似文献
